The Bristol Township School Board continues to grapple with filling a vacant school board seat.

On Monday evening, School Board President James Morgan announced that a Bucks County Court of Common Pleas judge has returned the decision to the board.
The judge set a November deadline for resolution, which means the board will have to vote on a new member.
The school board has to fill the seat left vacant in August after Member Mary Sharble left due to a move out of Bristol Township.

Last month, the board was deadlocked on who would fill the seat and missed the deadline, which kicked the case to the county courts.
“We had two petitions filed up in Doylestown. The judge has kicked it back to the school board to try to agree on something moving forward,” Morgan said. “As of presently, we still have not agreed. We have to November meeting to do so.”

The board voted to table the nomination for the school board director position until the November meeting.
Morgan expressed optimism about reaching a consensus, stating: “This is a wonderful board I sit upon and we’ve worked hard through all the years and I’m sure, and I pray that we will come to a conclusion for this.”
The vacancy has drawn public attention, with resident Joseph Montero addressing the board during public participation.

“I just wanted to thank everybody and all the school board members for taking the time and taking their time and reviewing the vacancy of the book school board,” Montero said.
Last month, Bristol Township Council Vice President Cindy Murphy, who has no formal role in school district oversight, during public comment.

“You do remember how you were elected. It was with the support of your political party, funded by your political party, campaigning, poll workers, mailers, and that party selected another individual who shows the democratic ideals to replace that vacancy that the Democratic party won,” she said.
