New Police Officers Sworn In At Middletown Meeting

Two new police officers were sworn in at the Middletown Township Board of Supervisors meeting Monday evening.

Officers Cristian Fernandez and Trevor McDonald took their oaths of office before the supervisors, family members, and community members in attendance.

Chief Joseph Bartorilla introduced the new officers as the begin their careers with the municipality.

Fernandez brings a decade of law enforcement experience, including 10 years with the Philadelphia Police Department.

Fernandez’s interest in public safety began at age 15 as a police explorer in Philadelphia,’ the chief said.

“Cristian is devoted to advocating for those in need and building strong, positive relationships with the people he serves,” Bartorilla said.

McDonald, a lifelong Middletown Township resident and Neshaminy High School graduate, recently completed training at the Temple University Municipal Police Academy. He previously served as a community service officer for the Middletown Police Department.

“Trevor comes from a large, close-knit family that remains the cornerstone of his life, reflecting his strong commitment to community and family values,” Bartorilla noted.

Supervisors Chair Mike Ksiazek administered the oath of office to both officers, who were joined by family members on stage for the ceremony.

The swearing-in came as Bartorilla, a former Philadelphia police inspector, marked 10 years of service to Middletown Township.

Ksiazek acknowledged the milestone and thanked Bartorilla for his leadership.

“Although 10 years in policing is really nothing, I’m very happy to be here, and like I always say, very blessed to be here,” Bartorilla said. “We have a great police department, so I’m very happy to be part of our police department and part of Middletown Township.”
