

A Florida woman escaped injury after her vehicle struck a work zone sign and veered off I-95, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:42 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, on the northbound lanes on I-95 heading toward the Bristol Exit.
State police reported that a 2024 Nissan Altima, driven by a 23-year-old woman from Florida, collided with the work zone sign.
The strike sent the vehicle off the highway ad over rocks and boulders, which resulted in significant damage to the car’s undercarriage and axle, state police said.

The vehicle ended up about 250 feet away from the point of impact and facing the opposite direction, state police said.
The Nissan suffered extensive damage to its bumper, grill, hood, front quarter panel, and right front tire. it was rendered disabled, state police said.

Troopers believe the driver fell asleep while driving, leading to the crash.
The 23-year-old woman was not injured in the incident, and no workers were hurt in the work zone at the time of the crash, state police said.
Troopers said in a statement that the driver will be charged with leaving the lane of travel.

According to state law, drivers are required to have their headlines on in posted work zones and obey speed signs. Penalties for violations increase for active work zones.
