While patrolling near the intersection of Ford Road and Veterans Highway around 2:35 a.m., a police officer was approached by a bystander. The man informed the officer that a window of Beach’s Hardware Store, which located across the street, appeared to be broken, police said.

The officer went over to the store to investigate and confirm the broken window on the Ford Road side of the store, but the doors remained secure, police said.

Upon check on the business with a flashlight through a glass door, the officer observed a man inside the building, police said.

The suspect – later identified as 42-year-old Myron Donte Vacca of Milwaukee – was seen behind the store’s front counter, and he was allegedly tampering with the cash register.

After receiving multiple orders to exit the store, Vacca did not comply, police said.

A perimeter around the store was quickly established by several officers as Vacca moved around inside, police said.

Vacca eventually approached the door, stepped outside, and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Following the arrest, a thorough check of the business was conducted by officers and a dog to confirm no additional suspects were inside, police said.

Officers discovered a large piece of lumber among the broken glass, police said.

The owner of Beach’s Hardware Store arrived and estimated the damage to the window at approximately $750, police said.

Vacca was charged and preliminarily arraigned by on-call District Judge Terry Hughes on charges of burglary, criminal trespassing, and possession of an instrument of crime with intent. He was remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $100,000 bail.
