The crash occurred on June 23 just before the Bristol Exit on I-295 at 1:58 p.m. when a 2017 Honda Civic and a 2004 Saab 9-5 collided.

The crash happened as the Civic attempted to merge across several lanes, according to state police.

Following the collision, both vehicles stopped, and the 26-year-old Croydon woman driving the Civic offered to pay cash for the damage to the Saab, which was driven by a 39-year-old Wilmington man, state police said.

The woman refused to provide her insurance information and then got back into the damaged Civic and fled the scene, state police said.

The driver of the Saab managed to capture a photo of the Civic and its license plate, which allowed state police to identify the Croydon woman, according to a press release.
