An area cat that had been missing for two days was rescued by Bristol Borough firefighters Thursday evening.

The pet cat had escaped from its home earlier this week and was found perched about 16 feet up on a tree branch behind the homes on Cleveland Street.
Despite efforts to coax it down, the cat remained in the tree and was either unable or unwilling to come down on its own, officials said.
Responding to a call for help, firefighters of the Bristol Consolidated and America Hose, Hook, and Ladder fire companies responded and took on the rescue effort.

Firefighters set up a ladder to reach the stranded feline, and one firefighter was able to retrieve the cat safely and return it to its owners, said Tony Bucci, chief of the America Hose, Hook, and Ladder Fire Company.
“The cat was stuck for about two days, and he was real happy we got him down,” Bucci said.

The cat appeared to be in good conditioning following the rescue, Bucci told LevittownNow.com.
“Yes…. It happens, firefighters rescue cats from trees,” Bristol Consolidated Fire Company posted on Facebook.
