The Bucks County Planning Commission is inviting local residents to participate in an open house to discuss the new Levittown Trail Project, which plans to add to area pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.

The open house will take place on Tuesday, May 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on 89 Pinewood Drive in Falls Township’s Levittown section.

Residents attending the open house will have the opportunity to view detailed project plans, ask questions, and provide feedback directly to the planning staff.

With the aid of a $2 million grant from PennDOT’s Transportation Alternatives Set Aside Program, the county plans to develop a trail linking several existing paths in Levittown.

The proposed 10-foot-wide multi-use asphalt trail will stretch just under a mile, going along Levittown Parkway, Mill Creek Parkway, and Lakeside Drive, connecting Bristol Township, Falls Township, and Tullytown Borough.

“We are completing some connections and filling in some gaps to provide a whole pedestrian system,” said Bucks County Planning Commission Director of Transportation Planning Rich Brahler.

The trail will help connect the Levittown Town Center, Levittown Lake, Delaware Canal State Park, Falls Township Community Park, and various neighborhoods.

The project also focuses on accessibility, with plans to construct Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant ramps at crucial intersections like Levittown Parkway and Pinewood Drive, officials said.

Pedestrian crossings are planned at Levittown Parkway at Sexton Lane and Mill Creek Parkway at Willow Drive.

The Levittown Trail Project is part of a bigger program by the county to enhance its network of trails, which includes the recently developed Newtown Rail Trail in Lower Bucks County and other projects throughout the region.
