Bensalem Township Public Safety Director William McVey said at the time that Elovens fled from officers in a white Mercedes SUV and hit two police vehicles as he made his escape.
The vehicle was later found abandoned, with a flat tire, near the border of Middletown Township and Langhorne Manor Borough, police said.

The search for Elovens prompted a significant response from law enforcement, as officers from local, county, and state agencies joining the manhunt. The effort included K-9 units and drones.
Middletown Township police said there was an encounter with an ATV operator who reported an attempted theft by a man matching Elovens’ description.

Despite the extensive search, Elovens eluded capture that day when the manhunt was called off in the early evening due to darkness and inclement weather.
