

An off-duty Philadelphia Police Department officer is suspected of driving leading up to a crash that severely injured a woman earlier this month in Middletown Township, according to law enforcement.

The single-vehicle crash occurred just after 5:10 a.m. on Sunday, March 10, along West Maple Avenue at Alscot Lane.
The passenger, identified by sources as the wife of the off-duty officer, was discovered unconscious and suffering from head injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital, authorities said.
The woman suffered serious wounds and remained in stable condition, police said last week.

The driver, according to police, fled the scene before emergency crews arrived. However, he was later apprehended by officers.

A Middletown Township police official confirmed that investigators believe the off-duty officer was driving the Ford F-150 at the time of the wreck.
