The mayor said this month that the new system significantly boosting parking revenue and offered a convenient alternative to traditional coin-operated meters.

According to Mayor DiGuiseppe, the app has seen substantial adoption among residents and visitors alike.

“The parking app has been extremely successful,” Mayor Ralph DiGuiseppe III said. “To give you an idea on how successful it’s been, just between the months of October and December, the app was used more than 2,500 times.”

“It definitely has been adopted by the people,” DiGuiseppe said.

The digital solution has not only improved the convenience of parking in the borough but also contributed to a 60 percent increase in parking revenue.

The Passport Parking app allows users to pay for parking through their mobile devices and eliminates the need for coins.

For the coin-operated street meters, the parking rate has been set at 50 cents per half-hour with a maximum parking duration of four hours.

The Passport Parking app charges users $1 for the initial hour and $1 for each subsequent hour up to a limit of four hours.

The same app is part of a broader trend across several municipalities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York that are using it.

In addition to promoting the parking app, Mayor DiGuiseppe is also encouraging residents to sign up for Nixle alerts.
