Middletown Township has set its sights on a road repaving for 2024.

The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors has voted earlier this month to seek bids from contractors eager to undertake the project.
The township is planning to repave 1.5 miles of roadways later this year.
Township Engineer Isaac Kessler outlined the scope of the project, which involves milling and repaving several streets. The streets are: Robinwood Drive, Robinwood Circle, Wood Court, Franklin Road, Country Lane, and a section of South Flowers Mill Road stretching from East Maple Avenue to East Lincoln Highway.

He added that the project is coordinated with the public works department to facilitate better tracking and planning for road maintenance.
Additionally, the township plans to address a drainage issue on South Flowers Mill Road, separate from the repaving work.

“The water is really eating away at the roadside there,” he said.
The proposed solution involves installing new stormwater pipes to redirect water flow to a nearby culvert and creek near the Eastern Auto Parts Warehouse.
The combined cost of the road and drainage projects is expected to exceed $800,000, a figure that falls slightly under the township’s budget for road improvements.

The township Board of Supervisors is expected to review bids and pick a paving contractor in March or April.
In a separate vote, the Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of a 2023 F-600 dump truck for the public works department to replace an older truck.

The $126,158 cost, which includes snow removal equipment, will be covered entirely by a grant from the Redevelopment Authority of Bucks County.
According to Public Works Superintendent Eric Gartenmayer, the purchase comes at a discount as the truck is a last model year vehicle.
