Law enforcement officials said 33-year-old Justin Mohn fled the murder scene on Upper Orchard Drive in Middletown Township’s Levittown section where he beheaded his father, Michael Mohn, 68, and fled to the sprawling base and heliport that sits 90 miles from Levittown and 18 miles from Harrisburg.

Mohn was arrested just before 10 p.m. inside the Fort Indiantown Gap complex in Lebanon County by the 18,000-acre facility’s police department, authorities said.

Middletown Township police were called to the Mohn residence in Bucks County around 7 p.m. Tuesday after the defendant’s father was located decapitated. A YouTube video calling for attacks on federal officials and facilities and decrying his father’s work for the U.S. government was posted shortly after the homicide.

Mohn was not at the Middletown Township home when police arrived and an immediate search began, authorities said.

Police radio blasted information on Mohn and the vehicle he was driving to patrol vehicles across the region.

A Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs spokesperson told LebTown, a Lebanon County news outlet, that around 9 p.m. base police received word from Bucks County authorities they had pinged Mohn’s cell phone in the area of the base.

Base police searched the area and locked down a nearby brewery during the manhunt, according to the report.

Fort Indiantown Gap Police and Pennsylvania State Police ended up working with Bucks County Detectives to locate Mohn near the base’s main office, which meant a fence had been scaled, LebTown reported.

Mohn’s father, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, had worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a civil engineer. However, there was no known connection between the Mohns and the base.

Mohn, who was taken into custody without incident, was found to have a handgun at the time of his arrest, authorities said.

Fort Indiantown Gap, which was listed recently as the busiest training center for the National Guard, has been increasing security and building a perimeter fence in recent years.

A number of Middletown Township and Bucks County District Attorney’s Office investigators went out to the base and brought Mohn back to Bucks County. He came before a district judge on murder in the first degree and other offenses early Wednesday morning.

Mohn was being held in the Bucks County Correctional Facility without bail.
