Falls Township police were called to the Dick’s Sporting Goods at 150 Commerce Boulevard in the Fairless Hills section around 4:56 a.m. on Saturday, January 20 following an alarm report.

At the scene, officers found the front double doors and a security gate opened with a key, police said in court papers filed Wednesday.

A significant amount of cash was found to be missing from the combination safe in the manager’s office, police said.

Investigators wrote in an affidavit of probable cause that access to the office itself also required a key, indicating an insider job.

The investigation found that employee Brandon K. Pogorzelski, 39, of Lower Makefield Township, used his employee keys to gain unauthorized entry into the store at 4:50 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, police said.

Pogorzelski bypassed security measures and accessed the manager’s office, where he allegedly entered the safe combination and removed clear plastic bags containing the cash.

Surveillance footage showed Pogorzelski leaving the premises through the rear door at 4:52 a.m., police said.

Authorities stated that Pogorzelski, one of the few employees with access to the keys and safe combination, was not authorized to enter the store outside business hours or to remove any money from the safe.

“Our detectives executed a search warrant on his vehicle yesterday during the investigation and recovered $27,500,” a Falls Township police spokesperson said.

Pogorzelski was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, theft, and receiving stolen property. He was preliminarily arraigned this week by District Judge John Galloway and released after posting $25,000 bail.
