Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito arrived and flames were shooting through the roof of the mobile home.

Falls Township Fire Company Chief Andy Hilbert said firefighters arrived shortly after and found the heavy fire conditions.

Due to the lack of fire hydrants in the community, firefighters laid a hose line from Old Bristol Pike and established a water source to battle the flames, Hilbert said.

The fire completely destroyed the residence, Hilbert said.

Dippolito said the resident suffered smoke inhalation and had part of her hair burnt. She was being taken by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation.

No other injuries were reported.

A neighboring home suffered heat damage, according to the chief.

Neighbors said firefighters were at the scene not long after the blaze was called in, but the flames were already intense, sending off a large cloud of smoke.

An investigation found the fire was caused accidentally, and it appeared to have started in the area of a portable heater, Dippolito said.

Due to the hose line being laid across Old Bristol Pike, Falls Township police closed the road in the area of the blaze.

In addition to the Falls Township Fire Company, the Fairless Hills, Levittown No. 1, Levittown No. 2, and Morrisville fire companies responded. The Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad and Capital Health Emergency Medical Services also were called to the scene.
