Bristol Township Council approved the new $34,581,044.42 five-year deal last week. The contract kicks off in January.
The deal is more than 40 percent higher than the $24 million paid by the township under the last deal approved five years ago.
The new deal will keep once-per-week trash and recycling pick up, reduce bulk pickup to once per month, keep yard waste pickup during the same periods, and move to having township crews collects the trash from parks.

Township Manager Randee Elton said the contract is not as high as she feared and had previously warned.

The township usually announces new trash rates at budget time at the end of the year.

Bristol Township Council President Craig Bowen said he expected the new deal to come in at more than $40 million, and he was relieved the new contract was for $34.5 million.
The township received bids for the trash contract from Waste Management, Whitetail Disposal, and J.P. Mascaro & Sons.

The township manager said she solicited bids with various options to find the best rate for residents.
The plan that was picked, according to Elton, was “quite less” than other options offered by the providers.
