The Middletown Township Jenny Craig Weight Loss Center has abruptly closed and the company is shuttering its locations across the country.

According to NBC News, hourly workers at Jenny Craig Weight Loss Centers received email notification that their final day was Tuesday. The last day for corporate and salaried personnel is slated for Friday.
The location in the Langhorne Square Shopping Center is Jenny Craig Weight Loss Center’s only location in Lower Bucks County. A second location in the county is in Doylestown Township.
The company has been reported to have been considering reducing operations in recent weeks.

The company’s collapse comes days after it was reported that it was considering declaring bankruptcy due to its approximately $250 million of debt.
Last month, Bloomberg Law reported that the company was looking to sell itself in order to survive.

“Like many other companies, we’re currently transitioning from a brick-and-mortar retail business to a customer-friendly, e-commerce-driven model,” a spokesperson said to CNN.
According to the NBC News article, Jenny Craig Weight Loss Centers are having problems as the number of weight-loss medications on the market has grown, including diabetes medications Ozempic, Rybelsus, and Wegovy.
When Jenny Craig Weight Loss Centers was acquired by H.I.G. Capital in 2019, according to NBC News, the company had 500 company-owned and franchised outlets in the U.S. and Canada.

For customers aiming to lose weight, the Carlsbad, California-based company had provided meal plans, food delivery, and counseling.
In 1983, the first Jenny Craig weight-loss facility debuted, and the firm grew over time and became a regular advertiser on TV. It was known for celebrity spokespeople who promoted the service.
