
Amid a slew of serious crashes and pedestrian strikes in recent years, PennDOT will install rumble strips along a 12-mile stretch of Route 13.

PennDOT will add rumble strips along the northbound lanes of the state roadway from the Philadelphia border with Bensalem Township through Bristol Township and up to Levittown Parkway in Tullytown Borough.
The work take place Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Periodic lane closures are scheduled.
The state transportation department said in a news release that the project is to “install safety enhancements to improve travel and reduce high-speed crashes.”

The Lower Bucks County work is weather depend and may cause delays, PennDOT officials said.
Municipal officials have been working with PennDOT to improve safety along Route 13 since the state highway was reworked about a decade ago.

The work is part of a $7.5 million regional project by PennDOT to improve safety. The state is receiving federal funds to cover the entire project.
Kuharchik Construction Inc., of Luzerne County, is performing the work.
