While newly-elected state representatives are sworn in early in January, they are able to start work at the beginning of December following their November election.

Michael Paston, Munroe’s first deputy in the Clerk of Courts’ office, is now leading the Clerk of Courts operations in the interim. The office continues to operate to serve Bucks Countians.

Due to the vacancy, the governor will have to appoint a replacement to fill the office in the wake of Munroe’s resignation.

Munroe, a Democratic, is likely to be replaced by a Democrat. Gov. Tom Wolf and Gov.-Elect Josh Shapiro are both Democrats.

Munroe was elected to the row office in 2019 and took office in January 2020.
