A late-November brush fire at Silver Lake Nature Center damaged a wild lands habitat, and volunteers are being sought for this Saturday to restore it.

The county-owned park and nature center that sits in Bristol Borough and Bristol Township will be hosting a volunteer day to help restore and cleanup the area damaged by the brush fire.
Volunteers are asked to meet in the area of the 2nd Avenue entrance and parking lot of Silver Lake Park off Route 13 to assist between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

The November 26 brush fire spread across 7.3 acres of the park property and was contained to brush and a wooded area. No buildings were damaged and no people were hurt.
A total of 45 firefighters were on the scene to assist with the efforts to put out the blaze.

Silver Lake Park is 465 acres and includes trails, dense woods, open spaces for the public to enjoy, boating, and fishing. Part of the park and nature center are a well-protected coastal plain forest, one of the last in the state.
