A Veterans Day assembly was held at Oxford Valley Elementary School in Falls Township earlier this month.
Students invited veterans they knew personally to the event.

The entire school erupted in raucous applause as the veterans entered.
During the entire assembly, an empty chair sat among the veterans. The colors were presented by students from the AFJROTC at Pennsbury High School.
Students heard about the life-altering decisions made by many veterans, including missing birthdays, holidays, weddings, and being unable to see their families for extended periods of time. The students learned some veterans still face difficulties after returning home, including challenges with homelessness, unemployment, and mental health.

Speaking at the school was veteran and Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors member Mike Koniers. He explained how donations to the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors are utilized to give veterans essential financial aid to cover costs for things like housing, utilities, transportation, healthcare, and other needs.
The children who invited the veterans were then called up to present a goody gift and a hug to their guest as a token of appreciation for everything that they have done for us.

As a gesture of gratitude to all the veterans, music instructor Victoria Zajac led the entire school in a choreographed song to end the event.
