The school board voted unanimously to hire John Scavelli as the the business manager. Scavelli will begin work on January 3, 2023.

“As business manager, Scavelli’s main function is to oversee the finances of the District and see that funds are spent appropriately to support the overall education of students. This includes oversight of all budget, accounting, purchasing and payroll functions. He will also oversee transportation, facilities, food services and other enterprise activities,” the Bristol Township School District said in a statement.

Scavelli is coming to the Bristol Township School District after serving as interim school business administrator and board secretary at the Berlin Borough School District in New Jersey. He has worked as a school business administrator for 17 years and superintendent for 14 years. He previously worked as a high school math teacher and served as an assistant football and wrestling coach.

Scavelli graduated from Glassboro State College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in school business administration. He has earned additional school administration and math teaching certificates from the New Jersey Department of Education.

“I enjoyed teaching and coaching, but was encouraged and supported by several seasoned administrators to pursue a leadership role very early in my career,” said Scavelli.

“I enjoy seeing students succeed and I truly believe that one of the pillars of a successful school district is a solid financial foundation,” Scavelli added. “I believe my experience as a central office administrator will serve the district and the new superintendent well. I am looking forward to becoming part of a great team.”
