The new Amazon Fresh is being prepped in the Lincoln Plaza shopping center off East Lincoln Highway near the Oxford Valley Mall in Middletown Township.

The outside of the store appears to be close to being finished, with shopping cart stations recently installed in the parking lot. Work on the interior of the store appeared last week to be underway.

LevittownNow.com confirmed that the Amazon Fresh store has purchased the liquor license from the nearby closed Ground Round. The liquor license will allow the grocery store to sell beer and wine, setting it to better compete with Giant Food Stores and Shop Rite.

Amazon Fresh opened a location in Warrington Township in 2021 and has one in Bensalem Township. Per Amazon’s website, the Amazon Fresh in Bensalem Township isn’t yet listed as being open.

Amazon spokespeople didn’t respond to a request for comment on the new store.

Two Amazon employees familiar with the local Amazon Fresh expansion recently told this news organization the store is expected to open in the coming months. The Bensalem Township store, they said, is the company’s first priority.

Amazon Fresh stores include grocery store staples, food delivery, and shopping carts that let customers check out without needing a clerk.

The area near the Middletown Township location already has a Giant Food Store, Redner’s Market, Aldi, and ShopRite. A Lidl grocery store will soon be under construction along New Falls Road in Bristol Township.

Paramount Realty purchased Lincoln Plaza for more than $34 million in 2020.
