The roadway has been deteriorating over the years and PennDOT crews were milling and repaving the most troubled spots between Flowers Mill Road and Woodbourne Road. On Wednesday, crews were focusing on the area leading up to and on the bridge over I-295.

Similar work has been completed over the past few years in problem areas.

According to PennDOT’s regional multi-year paving plan, the roadway will be fully milled and repaved between Pine Street (Route 413) in Langhorne Borough and Lincoln Highway in Middletown Township in 2024. The project will mill and repave just over two miles of roadway.

Maple Avenue/Old East Lincoln Highway was last fully milled and repaved in 2007 or 2008.
