Bristol Borough: Raising the Bar President Bill Pezza announced Wednesday morning that there will be a lottery to “select ten lucky residents who will march alongside the horses to serve as a security/honor guard.”

Locals interested in escorting the horses may register for the drawing at Bristol Antiques Market at 329 Mill Street.

A similar lottery was held in 2016 to find the group of residents that escorted the Budweiser Clydesdales when they last came.

The Budweiser Clydesdales will be returning to the borough on Sunday, May 22. The procession will start walking at 1 p.m.

The Budweiser Clydesdales will start on Farragut Avenue, head onto Pond Street, and then travel down Mill Street. The event will finish at the waterfront.

Penn Beer distributors and Bristol Borough: Raising the Bar are coordinating the event.

The eight-horse hitch was made famous in Budweiser and Anheuser-Buch beer commercials over the decades. The Budweiser Clydesdales will pull a restored turn-of-the-century beer wagon carrying beer cases, a driver, and a dalmatian to watch over the horses and beer cases as deliveries are made.

“We’re thrilled to have been selected again for this amazing event. The route and riverfront venue are perfect, and the previous event went smoothly. We’re grateful to Joe Schellinger of Penn Beer for advocating for the Borough visit and Borough officials for their cooperation,” Pezza said.

“A program of this magnitude requires a great deal of planning regarding traffic flow, parking restrictions and crowd control. Our team is experienced in dealing with events of this size, and we’re confident the heads of the relevant departments will coordinate effectively with Budweiser,” Bristol Borough Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe said.
