Monday’s arrest of a Bensalem Township man in connection to the hit-and-run crash that killed a resident of Bristol Township’s Croydon section brought out a reaction from one of the victim’s adult children.

John Dugan, 65, of Croydon, died after he fell and was struck by a pickup truck on Christmas Eve 2021 just past 5 p.m. along State Road in the area of Fourth Avenue.
Following a grand jury investigation and recommendation of charges, Kevin Michael Baker Jr., 20, turned himself over to police Monday on charges of accidents involving death or personal injury, tampering with physical evidence, and failure to stop and give information or render aid. He was released from custody after posting 10 percent of $150,000 bail.
Jamie Santos, one of Dugan’s three children, said she was relieved to hear of the arrest, but she knows the path to justice is long.

“When I can speak and he can hear and see me, that’s when I will be relieved,” she told LevittownNow.com.
Dugan had three kids and six grandchildren. He was a U.S. Army veteran and volunteered at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

Santos has previously recalled that her father was a hard worker who knew almost everyone in Croydon. He kept busy to provide for his family, including Santos and her siblings John and Sherry.
The family has followed the investigation and search for answers in the wake of Dugan’s death.
“I do believe in second chances and I do hope he learns from what he has done. But I could never forgive him,” Santos said.

Baker turned is truck over to police in the days after the crash, but the charges didn’t come until Monday, four months after the crash.
“Four months he has torn our family apart … Four months that our children has been completely clueless about where there pop-pop is,” Santos said. “It’s heartbreaking!”
