The Fairless Hills Fire Company was dispatched just past 4 p.m. for a report of a white substance in the creek along Lincoln Highway near the Ace Motel.
A fire official said crews looked into the substance and ended up calling the county hazmat team to aid in the investigation.
By evening, emergency crews had determined the mysterious white substance flowing in the waterway was milk, Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said.

It was determined the milk entered the creek because of a leak or spill of the agricultural product at the nearby Norfolk Southern rail yard, the fire marshal said.
