The driver of a 2011 Acura RDX that split into two pieces during a crash last Saturday is suspected of being under the influence at the time, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers said the 25-year-old Yardley man was traveling on I-295 westbound just before 11 p.m. last Saturday when his Acura ended up off the roadway in Middletown Township. The Acura struck a sign on the side of the roadway and then hit a tree, causing the vehicle to split in half.

Troopers said the man suffered minor injuries. He had a blood sample taken at the hospital.
There were initial reports a person had been ejected from the car that split, but that turned out not to be the case, said Frank Farry, the chief of the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company.
