Bucks County voters were more excited than usual for the municipal election.
The Tuesday election, which saw judges, municipal leaders, and county row officers on the ballot, drew 40.3 percent voter turnout. That meant 191,476 out of 475,049 registered voters casted their ballots, with 55,185 of them being mail-in ballots, according to data from the Bucks County Board of Election.

With contentious school board and municipal elections on the ballot, the turnout was higher than any other municipal election since 2003, which how far back the numbers on the county website go.
The closest municipal election in terms of turnout was 2019 when 37 percent of registered voters turned out.
Mid-term and presidential election years typically have higher turnout than municipal election years.

Neighboring Lehigh, Northampton, and Montgomery counties all had voter turnout lower than Bucks County’s turnout this November. Those counties reported turnouts slightly higher than 30 percent.
