The Gene and Marlene Epstein Humanitarian Fund has announced that they will give $1,000 to the first 15 people who donate a car during the month of October to the Bucks County Opportunity Council (BCOC) Wheelz2Work Program.

Wheelz2Work is a partnership between BCOC, Bucks County Community College, and the Epstein Humanitarian Fund. Donated vehicles are given to low-income families enrolled in BCOC’s Economic Self-Sufficiency (ES) Program who need safe, reliable private transportation for work or school. BCOC’s Economic Self-sufficiency Program matches eligible families with an ES Coach. Together an individualized plan is developed with a focus on education and employment.
The Wheelz2Work Program is a lifeline for ES Participants who have been derailed from pursuing additional training, job interviews or have been unable to apply for higher paying jobs at a greater distance from home because of unsafe or unreliable transportation. To date, 71 used cars have been donated to BCOC’s ES participants. The Epstein family is hoping to be able to expand the Wheelz2Work Program and provide much needed transportation to over 20 ES participants who are currently on the waiting list.
For over 50 years, the Opportunity Council has served low-income families in Bucks County by helping them to stabilize when in crisis, garner resources to achieve a livable wage, gain additional education and training, and work towards economic self-sufficiency.
