A Chevrolet Equinox slammed into the back of a Mack truck Wednesday morning, killing the driver of the SUV.

The identity of the driver killed was not released, but state police said a 50-year-old Philadelphia man was behind the wheel of the large truck that was hit by the SUV on the eastbound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge that crosses the Delaware River around 6 a.m.
Troopers said the truck was slowing down due to a disabled vehicle ahead when the SUV slammed into it. The driver of the SUV was killed at the scene and his vehicle was badly damaged.
The driver of the Mack truck was not hurt.

The crash caused backups on the Turnpike. There were also delays on I-95 because the connector was closed while the wreck was investigated.

A fatal crash occurred Wednesday morning on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bristol Township.
The crash happened around 6 a.m. on the eastbound lanes on the start of the bridge to the New Jersey Turnpike.
The crash involved a white SUV that was badly damaged. Pennsylvania State Police used a blue tarp to cover the driver-side of the vehicle.
