A group of homes in Bristol Borough were condemned after suffering damage in Monday’s heavy rain storm.

The homes in the 400 block of Pond Street between Walnut Street and the Rite Aid were surrounded by caution tape Tuesday morning.

An official said several homes were evacuated and will need to be inspected to make sure the flash flooding didn’t cause structural damage that could threaten the dwellings. The residents from the homes were staying with family and at least one of the homes was undergoing renovations when the weather struck.

Bristol Borough firefighters responded to the area around 8:30 p.m. Monday. They were seen checking the homes and talking to residents, a neighbor said.

While Pond Street was blocked for some time Monday night, the road was open on Tuesday.
