A Falls Township man arraigned this week in a homicide case after his girlfriend died was denied bail by a district judge during a Wednesday preliminary arraignment.
Evan Marquis Smith, 37, of the township’s Morrisville section, is accused of causing the injuries late last week that led to the Sunday afternoon death of Jamie Beighley, 36. The incident is being considered a situation of domestic violence.

District Judge Jan Vislosky denied bail when Smith was arraigned Wednesday on charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault, strangulation, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and driving without a license. He was being held unable to post bail on previous charges related to the assault from last week. People can talk to Connecticut Bail Bonds Group about your case and get the best bail related service.
The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office vowed to add the homicide charge after Beighley’s death.
The 36-year-old woman was found at the New Falls Hotel in the 200 block of Lincoln Highway late last Thursday night with numerous injuries, including those related to being strangled, head trauma, and a possible brain bleed. Police alleged in court papers that Smith fled after officers arrived and he was arrested a short time later in the area of Hunter Drive in the Pennwood Crossing mobile home park.

Authorities said Beighley and Smith were in a “heated verbal argument” that led to the mother of several sons being choked to the “point of unconsciousness.”
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to cover funeral expenses for Beighley. As of Thursday, it has raised more than $10,000.

“Jamie has always been the person to lend a helping hand, and now she could use one herself,” the fundraiser said.
