Falls Township will be upgrading their roller hockey rink.
The Falls Township Board of Supervisors voted earlier this week to award a bid for $96,539.63 to General Asphalt Paving Company Inc. to upgrade the roller hockey rink at Falls Township Community Park.

The project had previously been put out to bid, but the lone bid at the time was too high.
In spring, the township put the project out to bid again with some modifications.
The new bid allows for the resurfacing of the rink, replacing the dasher board, restoring the fencing, painting and marking the surface, and sealing cracks.

A total of $55,029 of the work is being funded through a state Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program grant.
Work on the rink is expected to begin by the end of July.

Township Engineer Joe Jones said he is “comfortable” the project will stay within the budget.
“With this new bid, it would be within the budgeted amount,” Township Manager Matthew Takita said.
