The deceased, who was in her 98th year, was born in Philadelphia on December 16, 1815. She was daughter of the late Christian and Mary Stillwater Sulger and widow of the late William Stettler.
This remarkable woman lived in every administration of the United States except three – Washington, Adams, and Jefferson.
Mrs. Stettler moved to Bristol with her parents in 1835. The household goods were brought up the river in a shallop. Her father bought the property at the corner of Mill Wood streets now occupied by Jamison Brothers and there conducted a bakery. With the family came William Stettler, who worked in the bakery and finally married the baker’s daughter.
