Two bridges in Middletown Township will be renamed for local service members who lost their lives during the Vietnam War.
The Brownsville Road bridge over the Neshaminy Creek that connects Middletown Township and Lower Southampton Township will be renamed for U.S. Army Private First Class George Raymond Huntzinger, a Lower Southampton Township resident who lived not far from the bridge.

Huntzinger died on October 29, 1969 while serving in Vietnam.
The Brownsville Road bridge over the Neshaminy Creek is expected to be replaced. The renaming will take place after the project is completed.
The under-construction Hulmeville Avenue bridge that connects Penndel Borough, Langhorne Manor Borough, and Middletown Township where the road runs over the rail lines will be renamed to commemorate U.S. Marine Corps Private First Class John Elton Candy, a resident of Middletown Township.

Candy died on October 11, 1968 while serving in Vietnam.
The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors approved the effort to rename the bridges in early April. The Brownsville Road bridge, which sits in two townships, renaming effort also received support from the Lower Southampton Township Board of Supervisors.

Middletown Township officials recognized local resident Ed Preston for his efforts to not let the servicemens’ names fade away.
