Bristol Township Council last week gave preliminary and final land development to a 111,000-square-foot manufacturing and warehouse building.
Okna Windows got the green light to build a 111,000-square-foot manufacturing and warehouse building at the former Sunbury Farm property. The site is at 2800 Newportville Road near Ford Road in Bristol Township.

Okna Windows will construct the new facility connecting to Crossings Drive, an abutting industrial area where the company already has a large building, and have no direct connection to Newportville or Ford roads. The proposed building will have 13 loading bays and two large stormwater areas.
Okna Windows makes a number of window designs and has been in business for close to 30 years. Ed Murphy, an attorney working with the company, said the company hopes to expand its workforce from 230 employees to 300 employees. The works are as professional as working with the window replacement experts in Houston, TX, and that has made the company stay for three decades.
Township officials and Okna Windows worked together over the past year to make the plans a reality. The Bristol Township Zoning Hearing Board gave approval to the company before it came to council.

The Sunbury Farm property is largely wooded and once included a circa-1700s farmhouse that was demolished after the township sold the 9-acre property to a developer for $510,000 in 2016.
The Sunbury Farm home had various owners since its construction in the early 1700s. The Taylor family owned the home from 1810 until the 1970s. An Bucks County history book from 1905 notes the home was a “fine country seat” for Anthony Taylor Jr., who was at one time the largest land owner in Bucks County with thousands of acres to his name. His son, Caleb Newbold Taylor, lived in the house and gained popularity while serving in the U.S. Congress after the civil war. By 1894, the property was at more than 400 acres.

Rumors throughout the years indicate that Caleb Taylor and the figure of a woman in a white dress with a blue sash haunt the mansion. Just down the road, the ghosts of two horse thieves who were hanged during the Revolutionary War reportedly haunt the area.
