IRS-certified volunteers prepare taxes for qualified residents through April 15, in four locations throughout the county: Bristol, Warminster, Quakertown and Newtown. Individuals and families with a combined income of $57,000 or less may be eligible for the program.

BCOC volunteers have helped over 13,000 families save over $25 million in refunds, tax credits and fees in the last 16 years; money that stays in the local economy. Millions of dollars in tax credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), go unclaimed each year because they donโ€™t know if they qualify, or cannot afford professional tax assistance, according to the IRS.

Bucks County Opportunity Council volunteers make this program possible and receive training and pass an IRS-certification exam each year. Additional volunteers help with scheduling and other administrative support. VITA is sponsored by the IRS and supported locally by Bucks County Foundation and First National Bank & Trust Co. of Newtown.
