PA Attorney General Says Some Residents Might Have Delay In Getting Stimulus Checks

The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office advised residents this week that some might have their federal COVID-19 stimulus checks delayed.

The checks from the federal government that are $600 per person began going out in recent weeks through bank accounts, mailed checks, and prepaid debit cards.

โ€œAs federal stimulus checks are being distributed to Pennsylvanians, there may be some delays,โ€ saidย Attorney General Joshย Shapiro. โ€œIf youโ€™re eligible for a stimulus check and havenโ€™t received one, you can call the IRS or visit their website to file a complaint.โ€

Some residents who use tax preparation companies, like H&R Block and Intuit, might run into problems. State officials said those firms use temporary bank accounts when they assist with filing tax returns. Unfortunately, the IRS used that information to issue stimulus checks, and therefore, some of the checks have been held up.

Officials said Pennsylvanians who are affected by this issue and have not yet received their stimulus checks should expect to receive them after February 1, when the IRS issues a second round of payments through mailed checks.

Those who qualify, and have not yet received a stimulus check, can contact the IRS at 1-800-919-9835 or go toย www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment.
