In a statement, Tomlinson said he started having mild flu-like symptoms over the weekend. He consulted with his doctor and got tested for COVID-19.

On Tuesday night, Tomlinson learned he had COVID-19.

“I am feeling well, but I am currently quarantining. Just a reminder to all that you must continue to wear a mask, wash your hands, and use social distancing to help defeat the spread,” Tomlinson said.

Since last spring, numerous Democratic and Republican members of the legislature in Harrisburg have been sickened by COVID-19.

Ways residents can help reduce the spread of COVID-19:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Wear a mask properly when in a business or where it is difficult to maintain proper social distancing.
  • Cover any coughs or sneezes with your elbow, not your hands.
  • Clean surfaces frequently.
  • Stay home to avoid spreading COVID-19, especially if you are unwell.
