A small earthquake that emanated from the under central New Jersey could be felt in the Levittown area early Wednesday.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed the earthquake was preliminarily estimated to be a magnitude 3.1 and occured about 3 miles below the surface in the area of East Freehold in Monmouth County, New Jersey, about 32 miles from Levittown. The earthquake happened around 2 a.m.

Data from USGS showed numerous reports from residents in Lower Bucks County that felt the early morning shaking.
There were no reports of serious damage or injuries.
The last reported earthquake to impact the area was in April 2019. Other earthquakes were felt in November 2017 and in August 2012 when an afternoon tremor shook from Virginia to New England.

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) reported in a years-old document that small quakes were centered near the Levittown area in 1961, 1981 and April and May 1982.
While stronger earthquakes can happen in Pennsylvania, they are rare, according to a state report from the late 1980s.
