Officers stopped a man from potentially killing his estranged wife early Monday morning, authorities said.
Walter Joseph Vandoren Jr., 43, of Bristol Township, was arraigned late Monday afternoon on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, burglary, criminal trespassing, simple assault, reckless endangerment, possession of an instrument of crime with intent, and criminal mischief.

Vandoren is accused of stabbing his estranged 39-year-old wife multiple times around 6 a.m. at 213 Buckley Street on Monday.

The 39-year-old woman was rushed by the Bucks County Rescue Squad to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia for emergency surgery. She was listed in stable condition in the trauma center on Tuesday, police said.
Borough officers were dispatched to Buckley Street for a reported burglary in progress and a domestic call around 6 a.m.

“Upon arrival, Officers DiPaolo and Lepore were met by residents pointing to the rear yard where the attack was taking place. The officers had to break down a locked six-foot stockade fence to gain access to the rear yard,” police said.

Vandoren was found on top of his estranged wife armed with a knife, police said.

Officers were able to stop the attack and take Vandoren into custody, police said.
District Judge Frank Peranteau Sr. set bail for Vandoren at $1 million.
