
A minivan with four people inside burst into flames Friday evening in Falls Township.

Police said they were called to the area of Woolston Drive and West Trenton Avenue near Makefield Road around 8:20 p.m. for a report of a single-vehicle crash.
Responding officers arrived at the scene outside the Commons of Fallsington in the Morrisville section of the township and found a 2007 Honda minivan engulfed in flames.
Rita Pileggi, 82, of Bristol Township’s Croydon section, was trapped in the minivan and was pronounced deceased.

The driver, Fred Pileggi, 82, of Croydon, and passenger Patricia Moldovan, 82, of Bristol, suffered serious burns. Fred Pileggi suffered burns to his upper body and Moldovan had burns over 80 percent of her body.
Fred Pileggi was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in New Jersey and then transferred to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Moldovan was transported to Jefferson Bucks Hospital and flown by helicopter to Temple University Hospital. She was listed as being in critical condition as of Saturday morning.
Angela Stanton, 80, of Bristol, was in the vehicle and escaped injury in the crash.
Police said their initial investigation revealed the Honda was traveling on southbound on Lincoln Highway toward Woolstone Drive before it struck the center median and a traffic sign near the intersection. The minivan caught on fire and continued driving on Woolston Drive while leaving a trail of fuel before coming to rest outside of the Commons of Fallsington.

A LevittownNow.com reader who lives in the area described the minivan as looking like a “fireball” as firefighters, medics, and police arrived.
The group was coming from the Elk’s Lodge in Morrisville Borough when the crash happened, police said.

The area around the scene was closed late into Friday night as the investigation was underway.
The Falls Township and Morrisville fire companies responded along with medics.
