
Bristol Township Council approved a 2020 budget with no tax increase on Thursday evening.
The Council voted to keep the 23.98 millage rate, which equals about $428.69 in property taxes per the average homeowner.

The township’s $68.1 million spending plan is a 3 percent decease over the proposed 2019 budget.
Acting Township Manager Randee Elton said when the budget was introduced, that the budget was “fiscally prudent” and Bristol Township has “done more with less.”
The largest portion of the budget – 70 percent – is devoted to the police department.

The township plans to spend $3 million for a proposed new senior and community center, $2 million for milling and paving, $1 million in park renovations, $1 million on improving the gateways to the community, $1 million for drainage improvements, $1 million of curb replacements, $400,000 for blight removal, $355,000 for equipment, and numerous upgrades to the waste water treatment plant.
Bristol Township also plans to use more than $3 million in grant funds on numerous projects.

The budget projects a slight increases in tax revenue in 2020.
The township last raised property taxes in 2010. In 2013 and 2014, the tax rate was slightly decreased.
In the budget presentation, the township said for every dollar paid, the school district takes $0.82, the county takes $.09, and the township takes $.09.
