Fiery Crash Kills Two On I-95

Two people were killed in a fiery crash on I-95 in Bristol Township.

Pennsylvania State Police troopers said they were dispatched along with firefighters to the area of southbound I-95 by the connector at 1:04 a.m. Friday for a two-vehicle crash between a 2004 Toyota Sienna and a 2016 Mazda CX-5.

The Mazada is alleged to have struck the Sienna as the two vehicles were traveling in the right lane of the highway. The Sienna ended up hitting the concrete barrier and spun around, facing the wrong direction before igniting on fire, state police said.

According to troopers, the two rear seat passengers in the Sienna – a 20-year-old Philadelphia man and a 35-year-old Philadelphia woman – were killed.

The 47-year-old Philadelphia man driving the Sienna and a 22-year-old Philadelphia man who was in the front seat were taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia with injuries. The driver of the Mazda – a 37-year-old man from Fairless Hills – was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital with injuries, state police said.

I-95 was closed in the area of the crash for hours and traffic was detoured around the scene.

Troopers from forensic services, the criminal investigation, and crash reconstruction units all assisted at the scene.

The crash happened just hours after two people were killed and two others hurt in an unrelated serious wreck on Route 13 in Tullytown Borough.
