Two drivers were killed after a violent crash involving five vehicles late Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened on Route 13 southbound in Tullytown Borough approaching the intersection of Fallsington Avenue around 4:15 p.m.
Police Chief Daniel Doyle said the driver of a Honda was spotted by witnesses passing other cars and speeding along Route 13 leading up the crash scene. He said as the speeding car approached the bend in the road, the driver quickly saw traffic was backed up due to the traffic signal at Fallsington Avenue and tried to avoid a crash. Instead, he slammed into the vehicles.
The driver of an SUV that was struck, a man from Tullytown, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Honda driver, a man from Bristol Township’s Croydon, section also died at the scene, Doyle said.

Drivers from two other vehicles were taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia and a fifth driver was uninjured.
Tullytown Fire Company Chief Aaron Cohen said the two deceased drivers were cut from their vehicles.

A deputy coroner was on the scene and removed the bodied just past 8 p.m.

“Reckless speed is the cause of this crash,” Doyle said.
An investigation has preliminarily discovered the Honda was traveling at around 80 mph at the time of the crash, the police chief said.

PECO crews were on the scene to repair a damaged utility pole.
PennDOT sign trucks were diverting traffic off of Route 13 at Mill Creek Road in Falls Township.
