Hulmeville Renames Street After Vietnam War Soldier

A section of Beaver Street in Hulmeville Borough has a new name – Sgt. James E. Boorman Avenue. 

On Sunday, the borough held a ceremony to dedicate the new street name with Boorman’s family, veterans, residents, local officials, and members of the Pennsylvania Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund were in attendance.

Boorman, a member of the U.S. Army, died at the age of 20 in 1967 in the Tay Ninh Province in South Vietnam. He was a native of the borough that sits along the Neshaminy Creek, according to a records from the Office of the Secretary of Defense through the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.

The ceremony featured the honor guard from Jesse Soby American Legion Post No. 148 in Langhorne Borough and Bucks County Director of Military Affairs Dan Fraley.

Hulmeville Borough Council member Ed Preston, who is chairman of the Pennsylvania Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, introduced the motion to rename the Beaver Street. The move was approved by Council in July.

Boorman, a Neshaminy High School graduate, is interred in Beechwood Cemetery in Bensalem.
