From the Montgomery County border to the Delaware River and from Upper Bucks County to Lower Bucks County, State Sen. Steve Santarsiero’s 10th Senatorial District covers a large swath of the county, and on Tuesday he opened an office with the aim of serving the lower end better.

Surrounded by Tullytown officials and his staff, Santarsiero cut the ribbon on the new constituent services office that will be open to appointments and walk-ins from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday and Thursdays.

The roomy office in Tullytown Borough Hall at 500 Main Street will allow staff to aid constituents with services like obtaining vital documents, transit passes, and connect them with state services and agencies.

Santarsiero, a Democrat, said the office will help his staff assist area residents without them having to travel to his other offices in Newtown Township or Doylestown Township.

“This is a big district and it can be an hour to drive it,” he said.

Pennsylvania allows state senators a total of 2,500 square feet of paid office space in their district. While the main Newtown office is 1,500 square feet and the Doylestown one is 1,000, the Tullytown office is permitted because Tullytown is not charging for use of the space, Santarsiero explained.

The state senator said Mayor David Cutchineal and the Tullytown Borough Council helped him in getting the office.

“This is a great access for the residents,” Cutchineal said.

Borough Coordinator Andy Warren said the space was previously used for storage and Santarsiero’s staff helped clean it up.

Santarsiero said that he always like Tullytown because of its small size. He said it is a “special place” with a small town charm that American has lost over the years.
