A woman who police say claimed she “just felt like kidnapping” children remains in custody under the placeholder “Jane Doe” as investigators work to identify her after a crash involving a stolen luxury vehicle.
Middletown Township police officers were dispatched Wednesday for reports of a white vehicle stopped on a highway shoulder near Bellevue Avenue with unbuckled children inside. Callers also alerted authorities to a Porsche speeding through the area, according to court papers.

At the location, an officer discovered several people on the shoulder alongside a damaged white Porsche Macan and a damaged white Lexus, police said.
According to court documents, a witness at the scene was holding two young children who had reportedly been with a woman wearing only a bra, who exited the Porsche.
When the officer approached the woman, she appeared to ignore him, police said.

A witness told police the woman had been inside the Porsche and was not responding to others.
The woman then began walking away down the highway and that led to the officer following her out of concern for her safety, police said.

When the officer caught up, she stated that she needed to take a shower, a comment the officer described in court papers as “strange,” police said.
The woman repeatedly claimed she had no idea what happened and was unable to provide her name or date of birth.
Police said she initially told the officer the children were not hers and that she “just felt like kidnapping them” after finding them on the side of the road in “some random town.” She later told the officer the children were hers, before reversing her statement to say she was not sure, police said.

When pressed for identification, the woman told the officer she did not have any and stated her name was “yo’mama,” before stating her name might be Ashley, according to police.
Although she claimed she had not been in a vehicle, the officer noted he had witnessed her inside one, police said.

Witnesses at the scene told police they observed the Porsche driving in reverse at “full speed” the wrong way toward another vehicle leading up to the crash, police said.
The two young children were transported by the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad to an area hospital.

One of the children suffered head trauma after striking the vehicle’s windshield, authorities said.
Before being detained, the woman told officers she could do whatever she wanted, police said.

Law enforcement officials said she was uncooperative, combative, paranoid, and “acting strangely.”
Officers placed her in handcuffs and escorted her to a patrol vehicle.
Investigators discovered the Porsche had been reported stolen out of Philadelphia earlier on Wednesday, police said.

The woman’s uncooperative behavior continued at the police station, where she refused to be processed, could not be fingerprinted, and stripped off her clothing, according to police.
The woman was transported to Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol Township for an evaluation.

Police said she threatened an officer and attempted to escape her handcuffs, forcing hospital staff to physically secure her.
The woman was later released by medical staff and cleared for confinement.
The Bucks County Children and Youth agency was notified of the incident.

With assistance from Philadelphia case workers, the children were identified and safely retrieved by their father.
Police said it remains unclear if the woman is related to the children.
As of Friday afternoon, detectives were working to determine the woman’s identity, police said.

The investigation is continuing, and the defendant’s arrest remains docketed under the rare placeholder name “Jane Doe.”
She was preliminarily arraigned Thursday morning before on-call District Judge Gary Gambardella and sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $1 million bail.
