
A once-popular gathering and late-night spot in the Levittown area has closed its doors – at least “temporarily.”
The Great American Diner and Pub at the corner of Veterans Highway (Route 413) and East Lincoln Highway in Middletown’s Levittown section closed after serving customers on Friday.

A sign posted on the door on Saturday said the restaurant and diner was “temporarily closed” and apologized for the “inconvenience.”
A reporter stopped by twice Saturday and was unable to find any staff. Numerous phone calls went unanswered.
According to county records viewed by LevittownNow.com, the roughly two acre corner property was sold from SAMS RT 73 LLC to 1201 (One) E. Lincoln Hwy LLC in December of last year for $2.4 million. The price was about a million dollars less than its last sale in 2006.

An active online real estate advertisement shows the property and 5,500-square-foot eatery posted for sale or lease. The asking price is “negotiable.”
State records list the Great American Diner and Pub’s liquor license as expired.

The diner and pub had been open for years overnight and was a popular hangout. As the years wore on, the hours changed and less and less cars were sitting in the parking lot.
Another Great American Diner and Pub on Street Road in Bensalem closed several years ago.
