Bristol Twp. Woman Competing In Phillie Phanatic Cake Contest

A Bristol Township woman is a finalist in a competition to make a birthday cake for the Phillie Phanatic.

Andrea Gana, a bakery worker at the Giant Food Store on Stony Hill Road in Lower Makefield, is competing against two other finalists to create a cake to celebrate the beloved mascot.

Gana lives in Bristol Township’s Levittown section.

Public voting on the cakes runs until 5 p.m. Friday on the grocery chain’s website.

The winning cake will be presented to the Phanatic Sunday during a birthday celebration at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

The cakes that were entered had to include Citizens Bank Park logo. The finalists were judged on their connection to the Phanatic’s birthday party theme of magic and overall appearance.

Gana was among 18 employees at other Giant Food Store employees across the region who entered the contest.

“This contest is the perfect way to showcase our talented team members while celebrating our passion for Philadelphia and of course, our favorite mascot,” said Dave Lessard, vice president of category management for Giant Food Stores.
